MORE RAIN – Swan Valley Update June 30/26

truck driving towards a washed out section of highway in the swan river valley

In the last day the heavy rains have once again hit the Swan River Valley. With some areas receiving up to 150mm (~6 inches)of rain prompting more overland flooding, road washouts, sewage backup, etc.,

This is once again impacting the Minitonas church/community, but also the Temple and Little Woody congregations (thankfully the Temple and Little Woody buildings are unharmed, but flooding has effected several members of those congregations).

All of this comes as the Swan River Valley is still cleaning up and beginning the recovery process after massive flooding June 7th.

Pastor Steve Pearson (Ochre River) inform has informed the MBA that activities at Waters Edge Bible Camp have been postponed.

Additionally, heavy rains in the Dauphin area are impacting roads and homes in the Dauphin/Ochre River area.

Prayer requests:

  • For God to cause the rains and flooding to cease, for sunshine and time to dry out the area.
  • For people to continue to come together to help, pray for and encourage each other.
  • For people to be drawn together to the Lord, Who is our Deliverer.

Ways to Help:

  • First baptist Church Minitonas is accepting donations to help with rebuilding their church and parsonage as well as community recovery.
    • Donations can be made to fbcminitonas@outlook.com
    • Please specify “Capital Fund” for church rebuilding or “Benevolence” to help meet needs in the community
  • Samaritan’s Purse has deployed Disaster Relief Units to the Swan River Valley and is still accepting volunteers to help. visit Samaritan’s Purse’s website to sign up to volunteer.
