We recently talked with Rachel Dahl, the youth ministry leader at Temple Baptist in Swan River. We wanting to hear how the church and community was doing in the week after the devastating storm swept through the Swan Valley bringing record setting rainfall and flash flooding. Rachel graciously took a few minutes to share how the church was fairing.
MBA: How are you all doing after this last week?
Rachel: “our hearts are in shock with our community, our church building is fine, but many in our congregation have suffered significant loss of homes, possessions, crops, and property. We have been affected on varying levels but definitely not as much as First Baptist in Minitonas or Community Bible Fellowship in town whose church buildings have flooded.”
MBA: How can we pray for Temple Baptist and Swan River?
Rachel: “Please pray for:
- Those who have suffered loss.
- The sense of Community unity to continue – as adrenaline fades and the long haul of digging out and rebuilding begin we need God’s grace!
- Our exhausted community leaders and emergency responders.
- pray that we as a church would rise up with supernatural love, generosity, and service to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
- pray for the hearts of our families, neighbors, friends, and co-workers to be turned towards an eternal perspective and the HOPE that Jesus offers!”
We are grateful for Rachel giving us an update and we invite extended family of churches that is the MBA to continue to uplift and pray for Temple Baptist Church, Little Woody Baptist Church, Minitonas First Baptist Church and all those in the Swan Valley who have had their lives disrupted by the June 7th Storm.
