God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.
This past week we’ve seen the devastation of wind and rain and resultant flooding across Manitoba. The power of water and yet that doesn’t compare to our God, who is our refuge and strength. Some of the special devastation has been in the Swan River Valley, homes and crop land and Hope roads and highways and infrastructure. The Minitonas church and manse nearby received a fair amount of flooding and the sewage back up that that goes along with that.
We’re going to be gathering as MBA churches. We’d already had a meeting scheduled for Monday, June the 22nd at 7 p.m., a zoom call to simply receive the auditor’s report on last year’s MBA finances. But at that meeting, we’re also going to share some updates as to how our churches, how our people are faring through these storms. In the meantime, in the meantime, as we have our opportunity to come alongside, to encourage, certainly to pray, to help with the needs, let us remember what what the psalmist says in in Psalm 46, be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord Almighty is with us, the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Let’s continue to pray for each other and be available when we are aware of the needs and how we can come alongside. I’m Randy Jaspers. I serve as regional minister for the Manitoba Baptist and North Central Association churches.
God bless you.
